The inn Campa da Braña is located in the village of Campa da Braña, city council of Cervantes, in the heart of the Natural Park of Los Ancares. This natural barrier called Los Ancares, linking Galicia and Castilla León, is a natural area of great environmental value. Campa da Braña Inn, located at 1,200 meters above sea level, is surrounded by peaks like Cuiña (1,987 m), Miravalles (1,987 m), Penalonga (1,890 m), Mustallar (1,924 m), Corno Maldito (1,848 m), Tres Obispos (1,795 m), Penarrubia (1,821 m) and Pico Lanza (1,876 m). The chain of mountains starts in Los Ancares and ends in Cantabrian Mountains.
The mountain range of Los Ancares runs from the mountain pass of Ancares, in the northwestern corner of the province of León, to the mountain pass of El Portelo, border between Lugo and the Valley of Balboa, in the region of El Bierzo. Ancares Nature Park comprises of the eastern part of the town of Cervantes and Navia de Suarna in Galicia and in Leon, the valleys of Ancares, of El Burbia and of Balboa, and also the localities of Suarbol and Balouta, the mountains of the latter border with Asturias.
The U-shaped valleys of Los Ancares and the large rocks, usually granite, arranged randomly in hollows in the ground, show the former presence of ice streams in the Natural Park of the Ancares: THE GLACIALS.
The forests of oaks, hollies, birches, ashes, willows, yews, chestnuts, wild strawberries, blueberries... are species belonging to the Atlantic and Mediterranean climates that coexist in perfect harmony in the Natural Park of Los Ancares. The variety of vegetation provides plenty of food resources and protection to countless species ranging from small invertebrates to foxes, wild boars, wolves, large birds, bears and small and beautiful birds, easy to observe (tits, flycatchers, warblers, wrens, finches, titmouse, bull finch, long-tailed tit, yellowhammer, etc.). Deer are also seen in these mountains, grazing in the meadows and on the edge of forests.
Wide valleys, dense vegetation, bathed by rivers of cold and crystalline waters, innumerable diversity of wildlife, numerous peaks linked by steep ridges, make Ancares Natural Park a great place for hiking in the mountains.
Harsh weather and orographic conditions of Los Ancares Natural Park, where the difficult winters of the past made it necessary for the coexistence of people and animals to live under the same roof, and had to store enough food for several days in the famous pallozas - buildings that, along with barns, clearly influenced by Asturians- are typical of Los Ancares.
